Superleague Formula: Montagny still 'upset' PDF Print E-mail

The future of Frenchman Franck Montagny remains unclear after the Bordeaux driver told Autosport that he was still wasn’t happy after his return to the Superleague Formula grid at Brands Hatch last weekend.

Montagny missed the trip to Zolder for round 6 last month and was replaced by Porsche Supercup racer Jaap van Lagen, but the ex-F1 driver returned for the UK race where he finished 5th and 14th in the two feature race.

However, Montagny is still unhappy with the Barazi-Epsilon team which runs Bordeaux entry and was annoyed when his second race was ruined when the French squad gave priority to the Galatasaray car of Tristan Gommendy, which it also runs, during the pit stops. Ironically, Gommendy saw his first race ruined earlier in the day by another pit stop blunder.

“We had good pace, we were fast, but I think we gave away a podium finish at the least,” said Montagny. “I like this series, I like the cars, but I’m quite upset again with the team. I was screaming at them to let me pit, but it was a big mess and lack of communication.”

Montagny wouldn’t confirm whether he would be on the grid in Adria when Superleague Formula resumes in September.
