Whist almost everyone is enjoying the summer time, behind the cutrains people are busy closing deals for the remainder of the season. V12 racing.com gives a round up of all the rumours.
Until Round 6 of season 2010 of the Superleague Formula series, everything was pretty solid, without much changes. But after Belgium, it all changed. Sebastien Bourdais, Borja Garcia, and Team Racing for Holland, left the series behind.Franck Perera replaced Bourdais with Olympique Lyonnais, and seems to be sure of a drive until the end of the season. Borja Garcia was replaced by ex-Formula Two champion Andy Soucek. Soucek just left Virgin F1, and admitted that he rather wants to race in a lower Formula. This could mean that also Soucek will race in the series the next five races. Meanwhile Mario Dominguez was a guest in the Brands Hatch paddock. The Mexican driver declared to Autosport.com that he aims for the next race weekend in Adria. A circuit that he raced on last year in the GT series.
At the moment GU Racing is building up a brand new Olympiacos car for Round 8 in Adria. The old chassis was beyond repair after Chris van der Drift's enormous shunt in Brands Hatch. Van der Drift won't be ready to race in Adria. However we wouldn't be surprised if Esteban Guerrieri will sub for the New Zealand born driver. Last year Guerrieri drove a few Rounds for the Greek Football club. Girondins de Bordeaux driver Montagny remains an unsure factor for the coming races. The French driver is still unhappy with the performance of the team of fellow countryman Michel Lecomte.
Ho-Pin Tung, last year a full time SF racer, is likely to participate in China if his back injury permits this. Also there is a rumour that a car of - partly Chinese owned - Birmingham FC will be added to the grid for the Chinese races. According to Chinese sources, a German driver would be behind the wheel of this car. This 'German' driver could well be CongFu 'Frankie' Cheng, who currently drives in the German Touring Car Championship DTM. Cheng also drove for the Chinese A1GP team in the past. Where the second Chinese race will take place remains a mystery. Earlier it was thought that Beijing would be the back drop of this event, but now Shanghai is also a possibility... We'll keep you updated when we have more news. The next Round of the Superleague Formula series 2010 will be in Adria, Italy on September 4-5. |
