Sporting Lisbon to return at Portimao? PDF Print E-mail

Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon look set to return to the Superleague Formula grid for next weekend’s races at the Algarve Circuit near Portimao.

The Sporting car missed the recent event at Adria in Italy, but V12 Racing understands that it will be back for its home round on 18/19 September.

However, the car is set to be run by series’ newcomers Drivex instead of Reid Motorsport. The Spanish squad made its Superleague Formula debut at Adria where it ran the Olympique Lyonnais entry driven by Celso Miguez.

While no official announcement has yet been made on either the Lisbon club’s return to the grid or who its driver may be, reigning Formula 2 champion Andy Soucek, who raced the car at Zolder and Brands Hatch, is being tipped to return.

Meanwhile, series organisers are hoping that the Girodins de Bordeaux car, which also missed the Adria race, will also return in Portimao although no details are available at present.
